Brett Bakewell-White, B.Arch. ARINA, Design Principal Born in Auckland in 1961 to a sailing family, Brett's history in competitive sailing includes National and International events ranging from dinghies, multihull and match racing through to offshore events. After completing a degree in Architecture at the University of Auckland, Brett's professional yacht design career began whilst working with the NZ Challenge for the America's Cup in 1986 and then continued for nine years working alongside Laurie Davidson, prior to starting his own studio in 1994. Design work to date has included a wide variety of craft from small motorboats, kayaks and dinghies through to superyachts in excess of 40m in length. The majority of work has been related to performance sailboats, including some 25 yachts over 15 metres. Brett has been the recipient of a number of design awards, and has maintained strong industry involvement through leadership within the profession.

Andrew Eaton, Westlawn (Yacht Design), Designer Andrew was born in 1978. He achieved a Professional Diploma in Yacht Design from the Westlawn School of Yacht Design, Stamford, Connecticut, USA. Outside work, Andrew has been working on a 52' Cruising Yacht, involving himself in general and systems design and engineering. He is a keen dinghy sailer and has competed locally. His duties at Bakewell-White include Design and Engineering. |

Alex Nolan, B.Eng (Nav Arch) Hons (AMC), Designer Alex was born in Hobart, Tasmania in 1978. He graduated from the Australian Maritime College in 2000 with an honours degree in Naval Architecture. Although this course concentrates on 'metal' commercial vessels, Alex followed his keen interest in sailing by taking up a position with Bakewell-White. Before joining Bakewell-White Alex completed a thesis on the self-righting tendencies of sailing yachts, and assisted in the design and construction of a 40' race yacht. |
